Director, Writing Assessment Program

The Writing Outcomes Program provides writing support to the faculty, staff, and students of Southeast, as well as writers from beyond the campus.  From this Web site, you can access information and resources for all of its programs:

The Writing Center

The Writing Center is located on the fourth floor of Kent Library, and provides face-to-face tutorials for all writers, along with other services.  Access center hours and staff, information on how to get the most of your tutorial, and more from the menu to the left.

The OWL (Online Writing Lab)

The online version of the Writing Center, the OWL allows you to submit drafts and ask questions electronically.  You can also review dozens of tutorials on grammar, mechanics, writing with sources, and other topics.

NOTE: Due to unexpected staff shortages in the Writing Center, please allow at least 48 hours for a response to your online submission.  If you have any questions, please email us.

The Writing Assessment Program

The Writing Assessment provides measurement of and feedback on the teaching and learning of writing at Southeast.  Online resources include descriptions of all the tests in the assessment sequence and a description of the holistic scoring method used at Southeast.

The Writing in the Disciplines Program

The Writing in the Disciplines (WID) Program provides support to faculty teaching writing in discipline-specific courses, and publishes Helix, a campus-wide journal of student researched writing.  The WID Web site provides information on the Writing in the Disciplines FFR Grant, as well as classroom exercises, resources, and bibliographies.
